MAIL AND ADDRESS BOOK

Setting up Notes to search an Internet directory for addresses
You can search remote Internet directories such as Bigfoot® for e-mail addresses of people whose names you know. If the Internet directory you use includes more information, you may also be able to determine a person's company, city, phone number, and so on.

The search uses Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) accounts for the directories in your address book. Notes adds these accounts to the list in the "Choose address book" field of the Select Addresses dialog box that you see when you address mail.

Once you have set up LDAP accounts, see To find Internet e-mail addresses or other data in Internet directories for information on using the accounts to perform searches.

You can choose File - Preferences - Client Reconfiguration Wizard and ask to set up Internet directory searching (a directory server) during the series of questions Notes asks you. Notes automatically creates accounts for the two directories listed in Common Internet directories and settings.

If you don't want to use the Client Reconfiguration Wizard, see To set up Notes to search an Internet directory.
