MAIL AND ADDRESS BOOK
For information on the "Scheduled archiving will occur locally" option on this page, see Specifying a schedule for client-based archiving.
If the Archive Settings dialog box is not open, choose File - Database - Properties and click "Archive Settings." Then click Advanced.
To prevent orphaned response documents
If the database has hierarchical views with "parent" and "child" (response) documents, allowing parent documents to be archived can "orphan" the responses. Responses that are not archived disappear from any hierarchical view (become orphaned) but still exist, keeping the database you're archiving larger. To prevent orphaned response documents, leave the default "Do not delete documents that have responses" selected; or, if you deselect it, make sure sets of archiving criteria that include any main document also include its responses. Examples of databases with hierarchical (response) views include Discussion and Mail (which has a Mail Threads view).
Note This option does not apply when you pre-select documents for archiving.
To set up an archive log database
An archive log database contains a history of all archiving operations in all your archived databases. Notes creates this database by default, but you can choose not to create one.
1. Select "Log all archiving activity into a log database" if it's not already selected.
2. (Optional) Click "Log Database" to specify a different file name and directory for the database than the default.
3. (Optional) Select "Include document links to archived documents." Links are useful for locating documents without browsing the archive database.
