To scan selected databases automatically when Notes starts
You can have the "Scan Unread" dialog box appear automatically when you first start Notes, so you can immediately start scanning selected databases.

1. Choose File - Preferences - User Preferences.
Macintosh OS X users: Notes - Preferences - User Preferences.

2. Click Basics, select "Scan for unread" under Startup Options, and then click OK.

3. Click OK when Notes tells you some preferences will not take effect until you restart Notes.

4. Restart Notes.

When you restart Notes you should see the "Scan Unread" dialog box. Refer to the options described in Selecting and scanning multiple databases for unread documents when scanning through selected databases.

Note To stop scanning databases automatically, repeat Steps 1-4 to disable the "Scan for unread" option.
