Displaying hidden characters and text
There are specific features in documents that you can choose to be hidden or shown.

Show or hide hidden characters

Hidden Characters

In Edit mode, choose View - Show - Hidden Characters.
Show or hide page breaksIn Edit mode, choose View - Show - Page Breaks.
Show or hide horizontal scroll barThe horizontal scroll bar should appear when needed. If it doesn't, do one of the following:
  • Press the RIGHT ARROW key to show the horizontal scroll bar. Press the LEFT ARROW key to hide the horizontal scroll bar.
  • Choose View - Show - Horizontal Scroll Bar.
Show or hide Help text at bottom of window (as you put your cursor in different areas of a document or form, Help may appear at the bottom of the window if the database designer included it)In Edit mode, choose View - Show - Field Help.
Show or hide paragraphs or features that are hidden when viewed in Notes Release 4.6 or later

Note "Hidden from Notes R4.6 or later" must be selected in Text Properties for this feature to work. See Hiding paragraphs.

In Edit mode, choose View - Show - Hidden from Notes.
Show or hide MIME content for Internet mail messages or HTML for Web pages in a document In Edit mode, choose View - Show - Page Source.
Show or hide HTML content that renders when viewed on the InternetIn Edit mode, choose View - Show - Pass-Thru HTML.
Run all Java Applets in a document when it is viewed on the WebIn Edit mode, choose View - Show - Java Applets Running.
Switch the form of a document. For example, you can take a mail message and switch it to be a calendar entry or bookmark.

Note The document with the new form may not display all of the data due to field change.

Open document; choose View - Switch Form; select the type of form to switch to.
View an object in a document created in another software program (shown as an icon)

Double-click the icon. If you have the software program it was created with, click Open. If you don't, click View to see the contents of the object.
