SETTING PREFERENCES
You can also specify a supplemental dictionary, which is a dictionary containing terms for a specialty such as medicine. Notes will check this dictionary for terms in addition to your primary language dictionary.
To install all language dictionaries
1. Insert the Notes CD-ROM. If you do not have the CD, contact your administrator to find out how you can install the language dictionaries.
2. Choose Start - Programs - Windows Explorer.
3. Open the CD-ROM directory, and then open the Client folder.
4. In the Client folder, open the Apps\Dictionaries folder.
5. Double-click DICTIONARIES.EXE.
6. Enter the location of your Notes/Data directory (for example, C:\Lotus\Notes\Data), and then click Unzip.

To install a language dictionary
If you want to use a language dictionary that is not listed in the "Primary Dictionary" list (File - Preferences - User Preferences, click International - Spell Check), you can install another dictionary.
3. Click the "Install Dictionary" button.
4. Select a language from the "Select Language/Dictionary" list and click OK.
5. Click Browse next to the Dictionary field to locate the dictionary on the Notes CD-ROM, or on your computer if you already installed all languages from the CD.
To set defaults for spell checking
You can set the spell checker to ignore words containing numbers or words all in uppercase. This is useful when you know those words should not be spell checked (for example, they may be code fragments).
You can also set Notes to keep "on the fly" dictionary changes. This is useful when you are editing a document that contains text in multiple languages, but not all the text is tagged for language; Notes lets you switch to a language dictionary "on the fly" for text that is not tagged, and only switches automatically to the correct dictionary when you encounter text that is tagged for a language.
For example, suppose you are editing a document that contains English, German, and French text, and the German text is not tagged, but the French text is. You can spell check the English text, switch to the German dictionary (using the Dictionary drop-down menu of languages) before spell checking the German (non-tagged) text, and let Notes switch automatically to the French dictionary when the spell checker encounters the French (tagged) text.
3. (Optional) Select "Ignore words containing numbers."
4. (Optional) Select "Ignore words in UPPERCASE."
5. (Optional) Select "Keep on the fly dictionary changes until next language tag change."
