• If you are using the Notes Web Navigator with Internet Explorer, the change you make to enable Java applets is synchronized with the Internet Explorer software. The change takes effect if you use Internet Explorer separately from Notes.
• If your Internet connection is through a proxy server, you need to enter the proxy name in the Web proxy field in your Location document so that applets can run on your computer. Change the Java applet security settings if needed.
• View the Java console (Choose File - Tools - Show Java Debug Console) to troubleshoot any problems. You cannot specify the level of access if you are using the Notes Web Navigator with Internet Explorer. The defaults set in the Java applet security section allow all hosts to run Java applets on your system. However, regardless of what settings you choose in the Java applet security section, Notes does not permit any host access to any of your system resources (files, environment variables, password files, and so on). • You can also select two other options for handing Java applets or JavaScript in a document:
  • "Enable Java access from JavaScript" allows you to run LiveConnect from Netscape, if the applet is configured to include the CORBA back-end classes. The option corresponds to the NOTES.INI setting EnableLiveConnect(=1).
  • "Enable JavaScript error dialogs" displays error messages in a dialog box when there is a problem in the JavaScript, requiring you or whoever is reading the document that contains the applet to dismiss the dialog box. If this option is not selected, JavaScript errors appear only in the status bar. The option corresponds to the NOTES.INI setting EnableJavaScriptErrorDialogs(=1).
